NOTICE OF NYS DOT PROJECT @ Intersection of NYS Rte. 44/55 & Chapel Hill Road

The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) is pleased to update you on the project to replace the culvert (C870030) carrying State Route 55/U.S. Route 44 over the Twaalfskill Creek, between Chapel Hill Road and Grotto Lane in the Town of Highland/Town of Lloyd NY.

This culvert replacement will require a full closure of State Route 55/U.S. Route 44 with a posted detour. During the replacement, travel across the work area will not be possible and vehicles will be required to utilize the detour provided.  Pedestrian traffic will be accommodated by the on-site accessible shuttle, which will drive pedestrians around the work zone. Signage will be placed to communicate this service.

The closure is anticipated to begin on Monday, August 3 and last approximately 3 Months. Detour signs are currently in place and covered. Signs will be uncovered while the closure is in place to direct traffic around the closure.

Motorists are requested to utilize local signed detours.  As with all work zones and detours, please slow down and pay attention to all signage and roadway instructions, including flaggers.

As we move forward with this project, we will keep local officials and stakeholders up to date via regular email updates to keep constituents informed.

Thank you,

Brian Kilmer, EIT
